Description
This tower was constructed by the Franks during the 13th century, when the Burgundian De La Roche family ruled the Duchy of Athens. It was part of a network of towers that provided early warnings and defense against pirate raids. Additionally, the tower likely functioned as a lookout over the surrounding fields and as a residence for a local lord.
The tower, originally three stories tall, now stands at 8.5 meters high with two remaining floors, as locals used much of the tower's material for constructing their homes. The structure incorporates stones from ancient buildings, a practice also seen in the nearby church of Taxiarches, which is situated on the same hill.
