Description
Kythera is located in southern Greece, between the Peloponnese and Crete, at the point where the Ionian, Aegean and Cretan seas meet.
Kythira, despite being of medium size, has beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters. One of them is Kaladi beach.
It is considered the best and most famous beach of the island which every visitor should meet up close and swim in its magical waters.
It is located four kilometers from the village of Kalamos, in the western part of Kythira, right next to Paleopolis. The beach has an omega shape with two small bays, in the center of which a large rock in the sea forms a sea arcade.
It is a pebbly beach that alternates with sand and impresses with its blue-green crystal clear deep waters. They are actually three consecutive beaches separated by rocks, suitable for diving!
The central beach, where it is the most beautiful and picturesque, is where most people gather, so if you want more peace, prefer one of the nearby beaches, which you can reach by walking through the sea.
On the right beach, the most impressive thing is that through a small cave you reach a private beach not even two meters. With an eastern orientation, the beach is indicated when there is a westerly, southerly or not strong northerly wind.
The beach is not organized, so you should make sure you have the necessary equipment with you, as well as water and food. There is no nearby canteen or shop to get them from there. The beach is easily accessible by car.
On the road from Fratsion to Avlemona you will turn right at the sign for Kaladi. A sign will lead you to a small passable dirt road (about 1500 meters) where you will park your vehicle and after about 120 stone steps you will face a heavenly setting.
