Description
Mylopotas, located a mere 3 km away from Ios' main village (Chora), is a stunning sandy bay with turquoise waters. It is widely known for being one of the most visited and crowded beaches in Ios and has been awarded a Blue Flag. The beach consists of two parts; a developed area with sunbeds and umbrellas and an untouched area where one can enjoy the sun without interruption. It is a popular destination for swimming, scuba diving, and windsurfing. This paradise is one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece.
If you are a nature enthusiast looking for peace and tranquillity, you should visit the beach in the early morning hours to get the most out of its natural beauty and clear waters. However, if you are seeking a good time, you will be pleased to know that Mylopotas offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, and beach bars that arrange the best beach parties.
Hidden away, you can also find the Museum of Modern Art, which was established in the mansion of the French philhellene Jean Marie Drot in 1993. It is home to a collection of artworks from Greece, Poland, Italy, Haiti, and France, including paintings, photographs, and sculptures.
Getting to Mylopotas is easy; you can either take a 20-minute walk down the hill or grab a bus from the main village of Ios (Chora).
