Description
Amorgos, the island of the endless blue, is located in the southeast of the Cyclades. The island has many beautiful, small beaches with crystal clear waters. Among the most famous beaches of Amorgos is the beach of Agia Anna, popular for the scenes filmed in the movie "Infinite Blue".
It is 4 kilometers from the country of the island and is located below the Monastery of Chozoviotissa.
Arriving you will meet two beautiful bays. The small church of Agia Anna dominates one of them.
The beach is not large in area, however it attracts a lot of people because it enchants with its crystal clear blue waters, its pebbly coast and the rocks that exist along the beach and are suitable for diving and sunbathing!
The waters are cold, deep and with incredible colors, while while you swim you can see the Monastery of Panagia tis Hozoviotissa. It is no coincidence that the waters of the beach gave the name to the movie "Infinite Blue"!
The beach, like most of the island, is not organized. It would be good to have with you the essentials and equipment for the beach if you wish.
Near the beach there is a canteen if you want to drink or eat something.
On the beach you will not meet many families due to its rocky surface.
The place is ideal for diving!
Ten minutes further from Agia Anna walking back and forth you will come across Kambi, a nudist beach with a view of Megalo Biokastro (a rocky island east of Amorgos).
There are many ways to access the beach. One is to drive up to the chapel of Agia Anna, leave your car in the parking lot and continue walking on a downhill path for 100 meters.
On the beach, the Amorgos KTEL runs daily routes, from Katapola (the main port of Amorgos) to Agia Anna and from the country of Amorgos.
For hiking lovers, you can follow a path that starts from Chora (behind the parking area) and reaches the beach (1 hour).
You must definitely combine your visit to the beach with visiting the Monastery. Three hundred steps separate you to the entrance.
Arriving at the monastery of Hozoviotissa, the view of the Aegean will compensate you. One of the oldest monasteries of the Archipelago and one of the most important attractions of the island. This is a postcard landscape!
The beach is located at a distance of one kilometer from the Monastery of Hozoviotissa and to reach it you will follow a downhill path, walking about 30 minutes.
In a few words, the colors of the sea, the white of the monastery and the sunlight create an impressive image and win over every visitor.
