Description
The tower has an almost square base, measuring 7.8 by 7.9 meters, with walls 1.65 meters thick at the base. It is preserved to a height of around 15 meters. The structure is built with hewn stone, mostly undressed but arranged in relatively regular courses, with dressed stones used for the quoins. Some of these dressed stones are spolia, repurposed from the nearby acropolis of ancient Haliartos. The size of the stones diminishes with height.
The tower originally had four floors. The ground floor contains a chamber approximately 3.5 meters on each side, covered by a semicircular arch. The middle two floors feature eight narrow window slits—two on each wall—while the top floor was once vaulted, reinforced by a double arch that has since collapsed.
An opening at the base of the tower is of modern origin. The original entrance appears to have been located higher up, on the second floor on the southern face of the tower. Putlog holes, which were likely used to support a wooden staircase, suggest that access was gained via this elevated entrance.
