Description
There is no specific information about when the tower was built, but it was likely constructed around the same time as the Tower of Marmari, in the 14th century, or possibly a bit earlier.
The tower was situated near a Byzantine village called Chandakas and was a dependency of the Zografou Monastery on Mount Athos at the time. It has a square layout, with internal dimensions of 7x7 meters, and walls that are 1.60 meters thick. The tower is preserved up to a maximum height of 8 meters. Originally, it was a three-story structure with each floor covering 49 square meters.
The tower was enclosed by a small fortified wall measuring 12.0x12.5 meters, though only a few sections of this wall remain on the northern side.
