Description
Located atop Pitýki Mountain, a narrow 154-meter-tall point, the castle "commands" the island's two most significant harbors, Álinda and Ajía Marína bays. It served as an observation station and was connected to many other Knights Hospitallers' castles and Vígles, which are essentially undefended lookout posts, on the island of Kálymnos.
Built on the site of an old acropolis, this early bastioned fortification was an outpost of a Byzantine citadel.
Ruin with several well-preserved elements. The castle is now frequently referred to as Kástro tís Panajías, which translates to "Castle of St. Mary."
