Description
Dragone Castle, also known as Castello della Dragonara, was built in the 13th century during medieval times. Its popular name comes from the term "Dragonaria," meaning "vortex of storm air," reflecting its exposed location overlooking the sea, which is often battered by strong winds and heavy seas. Situated at the farthest point of Camogli, the castle offers stunning views of the surrounding area.
Originally constructed as a watchtower, the castle served to protect the ancient hamlet and the nearby coastline from Saracen pirate raids. Today, its terrace provides a picturesque view of both the sea and the village below.
