Description
While there is no actual castle in Parikia, there is a charming neighborhood called "Kastro" (meaning castle), where remnants of walls and a tower from the former castle can still be seen. Even today, traces of an ancient temple, possibly the temple of Demeter, are visible in the area.
The castle was constructed by the Venetians in 1260, during the time when Paros was part of the Duchy of Naxos.
