Description
Between Tzia and Serifos, dominates one of the most beautiful islands of the Aegean, the island of Kythnos, a classic Cycladic island.
There you will find one of the most beautiful beaches of the Cyclades and one of the most famous in Greece. Kolona beach is one of the most photographed parts of Kythnos. It is a stunning strip of land that connects Kythnos to the islet of Agios Loukas, boasting captivating golden sand and the sea lapping at both sides.
It is comprised of two sandy coves, connected by a narrow strip of sand, and is a popular destination for pleasure boats. The beach is sheltered from the wind and its crystal clear blue waters create an idyllic landscape. The beach is not organized, so visitors should bring what they need.
It is situated approximately 3 km west of the village of Chora and can be reached by taxi boat from Merihas, the main port of Kythnos. You can also get there on foot, however, a jeep is necessary for the rough road. If you own a private boat, you can land directly on the sand, as there is no quay. The beach offers a tavern for daytime refreshments and two large trees that provide shade. This beach is a must-see when visiting Kythnos and has a romantic atmosphere.
To reach the island you can travel from Lavrio in 1 hour 45 minutes or from Piraeus in three hours.
