Description
The Northern Pindos National Park is the largest terrestrial National Park of our country, with an area approaching 2 million acres, constituting an area of unique ecological and environmental value at national, European and global level. Within the boundaries of the Park are included the National Parks of Vikos-Aoos and Pindos (Valia Kalda), 11 areas of the Pan-European Network of Protected Areas "NATURE 2000" (NATURA 2000), 11 Wildlife Refuges, an important part of the Geopark of Vikos-Aoos and a Biogenetic Reserve at the core of Valia Calda.
The Management Agency of the North Pindos National Park, having as its mission since 2002 the protection and management of the National Park and its Regional Zones, makes continuous efforts to protect and promote the ecological, aesthetic, cultural, etc. values of the area. At the same time, it has as its priority the sustainable development and the continuation of the harmonious, centuries-old human presence in this region of unparalleled beauty.
