Description
The location of the Polylimnion gorge is approximately in the middle of the main road between Messina and Pylos (or Kalamata Pylos).
Specifically, in the village of Kazarma you will turn towards the village of Haravgi and from there there are signs that will lead you after a few hundred meters to the car parking area.
The access from the parking area to the first lakes and the small path is particularly easy, while when you enter the path, the only thing you should be careful of is not to slip. On the path in some more difficult places there are metal supports that help quite a bit on the way up.
The first images from the Polylimnio are very beautiful but you better move up to see something you most likely did not expect to see. You pass one of the first large lakes, that of Italos, and climb up to Lake Kadoula. From there the sight is amazing as you will see other ponds spread out in front of you with dozens of small waterfalls while frames of the images are completed by a large waterfall that can hardly be seen between the leaves of the trees and the riverside flowers.
Continue the ascent and enjoy the beautiful Lake Kadis with its imposing large waterfall, crystal clear waters and steep rocks that rise above its waters.
All these elements will guide your thinking on whether you should dive into its waters or not. Some daredevils will not think about it at all and will suddenly feel the coldness of the waters of the waterfall. Of course, no matter how much you think about it, this is something you cannot avoid, so make the decision and enjoy swimming and diving from the rocks of Kadi Lake.
If you want to enjoy a natural massage, you can approach the point where the waters of the waterfall rush down (from a height of more than 20 meters!), while right next to it you will also see the wind staircase that will lead some to the first nice diving spot.
Of course, there are also some who want to fall from higher and climb to the left of the first point to offer intense images to those who have simply climbed to enjoy the scenery or a simple bath in Kadis. (the photos you will see below are indicative.)
In addition to the point we described, there is also another quite large lake-swimming pool in the second parking area with much easier access. It is Mavri Limna (Mavrolimna is probably above Kadi, we could not verify this since we did not continue the ascent further up. From the map as it is at the entrance of the gorge and which you will see in the photos below, something like we conclude) and offers endless moments of relaxation or picnics next to its peaceful waters.
In both areas be careful not to step on any of the large lake crabs or water snakes.
