Description
Psatha beach in the Gulf of Corinth allows you to imagine that you are not just an hour outside of Athens, but somewhere in the Cyclades: crystal clear waters, very friendly for walkers and swimmers pebbles and 2.5 kilometers of beach. Much less crowded than the other beaches of Attica, it's a little paradise where you can let your kids run and play!
It is not organized with sunbeds, but in front of the beach there are many cafes, taverns and ouzo. Remember to bring your umbrella and… your mats!
The large free beach is located below Mount Pateras overlooking the Corinthian Gulf and the dense pine forest of the mountain above it, at a distance of about 20 kilometers from Villas and 60 kilometers west from the center of Athens. Here in ancient times was another port of the Megarians in the Gulf of Corinth, Panormos. According to folklore scholars of the area, the beach owes its current name to the large number of aquatic plants, the main of which is psathi, a type of reed, from which our well-known "mats" are made.
The calm and the quality of the waters that will really give you the feeling of being on an island.
Access to Psatha beach is from the Vilia to Psatha route or from Megara via the coastal road of Alepochori.
