Description
Schinoussa is, after Koufonisia, the most popular and most developed touristic of the Small Cyclades. Its port, Mersini, is considered one of the best havens for small boats in the entire Aegean, while one of its great advantages is its many beautiful beaches.
Psili Ammos is one of the most beautiful and well-known beaches of the island.
It is located on the north-eastern coast, at a distance of only 500 meters from the settlement of Mesaria and about 2.5 kilometers from Chora tis Schinousa.
It is short in length (only 60 meters) but the natural landscape with sand dunes that reach up to the rocks is truly exotic.
The coast is dominated by fine sand, as its name also testifies to, while in the sea, with its amazing blue-green hue, apart from sand there is also fine pebbles.
There are scattered tamarind trees that will offer you their shade since there is absolutely no organization on the beach. There are also those who set up their tents both near the coast and on top of the dunes, which gives them a panoramic view of the beach and a view towards Amorgos, Keros and Koufonisia.
There is absolutely no organization, so you should make sure to stock up on all the essentials (drinks or food) for your stay on the beach or you will have to return to Mesaria.
The beach is not protected enough when northerly winds blow.
To reach Psili Ammos you will follow the paved road to Mesaria, and from there, with a sign directing you for the last 500 meters, a passable dirt road that ends at the parking lot behind the beach.
